I repaired the rosary that my dad gave my mom during a furlough from his stay in Italy during the time he was a soldier in WWII .  With that repair came the realization that a simple repair can bring back huge memories.  

Growing up I remember my mom praying on the rosary with the beautiful blue beads. She told me the story of dad giving it to her when he came back home on furlough.

Two years ago when I was helping her clean out a drawer, we came upon that rosary, broken and with beads missing. I asked her if I could repair it for her and reminded her that as long as we have 53 blue beads for the Hail Marys, I would be able to replace the missing beads with a different bead for the Our Fathers.

When I completed the rosary and placed it in her hands, the tears appeared and the hug was a tight sincerely grateful thank you. I want to believe that all of the memories of my dad warmed her when she held the gift he gave her so many years ago.
