My mother-in-law, Vivian Gussin Paley, one of my best friends and greatest fans, was a kindergarten teacher for 37 years. A firm belief of hers is that storytelling intertwined with play promote a child’s health and happiness. The 12 books she authored all explain and instruct about this valued belief of hers.

It is in her honor that I have identified a unique line of my jewelry-making and have named it-- the STORYTELLER. The piece is unique to the person it is made for. It tells a story about the person it is made for. The piece holds beads, colors, or words indicative of other people or events in their lives.

For a STORYTELLER necklace or bracelet, I use birthstones and colored beads or crystals representative of the birth month of the individual. I also like to use beads with names, dates, or words etched into them.  I have made rosaries with names in letters to replace the beads within the decade and bracelets with letters that spell out the person’s name.
